My Journey
I was first introduced to project management in 2016 when I reluctantly enrolled in a bachelor’s degree specializing in Construction Management in Ireland.
At the time, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my life. However, with the course covering a broad range of subjects, I saw it as a strong foundation that could open doors to fields like law, science, or engineering, in case I wanted a change
As I progressed through my studies, project management resonated with me on a deeper level. Without realizing it, I was engaging in the principles of effective communication and problem solving, which trace back to lean systems automation first introduced following the Industrial Revolution. Over time, I had the opportunity to interpret and apply these principles in both my professional and personal life.
After graduating in 2020, I was granted the opportunity to take on projects in the construction industry, working for a subcontracting company. Within eight months, I was leading my first contract and engaging with a third-party provider to implement a CRM system for the company.
This experience facilitated my transition into the IT sector, where I began overseeing software implementations for a diverse client base. I soon recognized that adapting my construction management approach posed challenges due to the stark contrast between the ITIL software process and the structured path of delivering a physical product in construction.
However, after reflecting on my original teachings with newfound experience ultimately enabled me to thrive in the dynamic, fast-paced world of IT. This demonstrates that the discipline of project management is highly adaptable and applicable to nearly any type of project. Over the past three years, my work has taken me to Portugal, Germany, and now Spain, where I currently reside. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of meeting incredible professionals and expanding my network, and I look forward to continuing this journey.
